For some time people have observed variations in health outcomes for different groups of people. You might have heard that people from particular ethnic groups are more likely to develop particular health issues, or that people living poorer areas have worse health outcomes than those living in wealthy areas. The ways in which these stories are presented tend to pathologize individuals or whole groups of people.

What we aim to do in the course is put another lens on the matter. So, rather than looking for fault in the individual, we will be considering the impact of environment on health and wellbeing. For example, we will look at how the recent governmental economic policy to implement austerity measures, which impacted the most marginalised groups in society and shine light on the links between Capitalism, Sexism and Racism.

Please make sure to read our COVID 19 Safety Guidance here before attending the session. If you have any questions please contact us on 0207 426 2332 or eft.thrc@nhs.net
