Our Acute Frailty Network successfully delivered their 3rd Annual Conference on 27 June in central London. The event was attended by more than 300 colleagues and Twitter was alight with positive feedback and praise for the speakers. One delegate summed up the day with the following email:

"Following the conference yesterday, I would like to say a big thank you to the organisers of the event, it was the best conference I have ever attended. The speech from Tommy Whitelaw was very touching and inspirational, it got me thinking and reflecting on the care/support we as healthcare professionals in acute setting are rendering to our patients with dementia and their families. Thank you once again."

Tommy Whitelaw is a carer who cared for his mother Joan who lived with vascular dementia. After losing his dear mum, Tommy has made it his life’s work to raise awareness of issues patients and their carers face when living with dementia. He leads a campaign on the ‘five must do with me steps’ to flip conversations with older people to what matters to them rather than focussing on what is the matter with them.
