We have worked to spread this model and the
learning from UCLH across our membership.
The programme is run over 24 weeks using lean methodology and is broken down into 4 phases:
- Preparation and Start Up: 4 weeks
- Knowing where you are: 5 weeks
- Improve: 12 weeks
- Sustain: 3 weeks
Whilst building upon local capability,
there is a recognition that the teams may not all have the required
skills to deliver a successful programme. Therefore the programme is
underpinned by training and development of the teams participating; the
training includes: setting up a programme, leading change, capacity and
demand, measuring for improvement, and facilitation skills. Action
Learning Sets are also run to support the teams and to share learning.
The critical success factors to a
successful programme include the requirement for a senior sponsor as
well as an expert “critical friend”.
