At NHS Elect, we use psychometrics to support leadership development, team development, coaching, communication, collaboration and personal effectiveness. Used well, these tools can create powerful moments of insight, helping people recognise their strengths, understand difference and adapt their approach to work more effectively with colleagues, teams and stakeholders.

How we apply psychometrics

We can apply psychometric tools in a variety of ways to suit your needs.

Integrated with programmes

We can integrate psychometric tools into existing development programmes, including leadership, team, board and coaching programmes. They can be used to support self-awareness, improve communication, strengthen relationships, explore team dynamics and develop more effective leadership behaviours.

Stand-alone workshops

We also offer stand-alone psychometric workshops, most commonly as a one-day, face-to-face session. These workshops give participants the opportunity to explore a specific tool in depth, understand their individual profile and apply the insights to their day-to-day work.

One-to-one sessions

We can also offer one-to-one coaching and feedback sessions using any of the tools, helping individuals reflect on their profile and identify practical steps for development.

Lumina Spark

Lumina Spark is a modern personality assessment that helps people understand their preferences, strengths and behavioural patterns. It recognises that people are not fixed “types” and that behaviour can shift depending on context, environment and pressure. It is particularly useful for leadership, team development, coaching and improving workplace relationships.

Insights Discovery

Insights Discovery uses a simple and memorable colour energies framework to help people understand themselves and others. It is widely used to improve communication, teamwork, leadership effectiveness and relationship management, giving teams a shared language for discussing different styles and preferences.

MBTI

MBTI helps individuals understand their preferences in how they think, communicate, make decisions and interact with the world. Based on four preference areas and 16 personality types, it is commonly used to support self-awareness, team development, leadership development and improved workplace communication. We can use either MBTI Step I or Step II, depending on your needs.

TypeCoach

TypeCoach is a practical communication and personality development tool based on similar principles to MBTI. It focuses on helping people recognise different communication, decision-making and working styles, with a strong emphasis on practical strategies for improving collaboration, leadership and workplace relationships.

DISC

DISC helps individuals understand their behavioural and communication styles through four key dimensions: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness. It can be useful for improving communication, teamwork, leadership, stakeholder relationships and conflict management.

Many members of the NHS Elect team are trained and accredited in a wide range of psychometric tools.
