Christine Kapopo
Christine Kapopo is a senior nursing leader with more than 25 years of experience across mental health, learning disability, and autism services. She currently serves as Deputy Chief Nurse at as Mental Health NHS Trust, following senior leadership roles at several London mental health trusts, the Care Quality Commission, and as a Registrant Panel Member with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Christine has contributed to national initiatives such as the 2006 Mental Health Nursing Review and the development of Professional Nurse Advocate education standards. Internationally, she has fostered global partnerships to advance nurse-led research and serves on the executive committee of the Association of Zambian Nurses UK, supporting the professional growth of nurses of Zambian heritage. She has played a pivotal role in developing and delivering nursing strategies, that enhance professional practice, uphold clinical standards, ensure workforce sustainability, and embed inclusive models of care. Embedding restorative supervision through the Professional Nurse Advocate role, and achieving measurable improvements in patient safety, including significant reductions in falls and ligature-related incidents.
Her academic and professional credentials include an MSc in Mental Health Studies from King’s College London, a PG Cert in Workforce (CNO Safer Staffing Fellow), Professional Nurse Advocate training, PRINCE2 certification, and graduation from the Athena Programme for Executive Women.
